Exciting things to come
Hello everyone! We are still working diligently on getting some lingering kinks worked out on the new site. It looks like the last frontier is our java drag and drop applet which has been acting up ever since our migration. So now for the good news. For the past few weeks we have been trying to figure out the best way to allow document editing on the site. Initially we were considering a browser plugin that would allow you to edit a file and then have it saved directly back into your account, but we decided that this would be burdensome when working remotely (not on your own computer) and when allowing others to collaborate on your documents. What is the perfect solution, you ask? We’ve decided to build a web-based document editor. We have created some mockups and are really excited about incorporating this into the site. Give us a couple more weeks (hopefully less) and you will have the ability to edit any recognized document in your account. Best of all, you will be able to privately share that document with someone and let them edit it as well. This is perfect for group projects, remote editing, and more.
The next exciting thing on the docket is coming out much sooner than doc editing. As many of you know, we have been working on a desktop synchronization application for the past few months. This software, initially released on the PC, will allow you to sync any folder from your computer to your Box account. This software is in its final stages of testing locally, and will be available hopefully by Thursday or Friday of this week. We will email an announcement out when the time comes. The Mac version should safely come out in late March or early April.
Don’t hold back your comments, criticisms, and questions. We’re here to help.
