Blog spam, and time to expand

Sorry to anyone who has had a recent comment not show up on the blog! We delayed adding a spam filter for a bit too long - so all the real+spammy comments piled up to become an unmanagable mess. The good news is, our newest hire, Sam Ghods, came to rescue (he really, really hates spam). Sam has joined us in Berkeley to help lead our development as Director of Engineering. Most recently, Sam was a developer at a very interesting political social networking startup called Essembly. Sam will work directly with our awesome engineering team (Vasily, Stas, Roman, Zakhar, Pavel, Anton, Kirill) as well as work closely on the business and marketing side as we continue to evolve our product and strategy. If you have any comments for Sam, or just want to say hello, feel free to shoot over an email to sam [at] box.net.

In the next few months, Box.net is going to continue to expand its team both on a technical and business perspective. After four months of analyzing the use and activity of our new service, we have some exciting ideas and changes to implement. Stay tuned, and you’ll hear more about it on the blog as time goes on.

Update: One cool trick I just noticed… If your firefox browser’s search is set to Google as the default, you can just type in “box” into the address bar, and it will take you directly to Box.net (this will only last as long as we’re #1 on google, of course).

Knock Knock…

Yes… We’re still here. It’s been difficult to keep up the blog during the past few weeks because of how hectic things are getting at Box HQ. We’re very excited for many of the new features on our summer roadmap. Box.net is planning to change the face of storage and sharing - no joke. Over the next two months you will witness an evolutionary process. I can’t say what that will be yet (for competitive reasons), but by the end of it all, you will be much happier as a Box.net member :)

I will try and do a better job at discussing developments on this blog, as well as interesting marketing thoughts, etc. A lot of our time right now is going towards development, planning, partnerships, and fundraising. Also, we’ll be putting up a forum in the next week. You can use this to discuss our API, problems, suggestions, etc.
