So a few days ago we were sitting around wondering how we could make it easier to add files to your Blog, Myspace, or Facebook notes. Then came blog posting functionality. This seems to work fairly well, and we’ve seen some decent activity from it, but it was really is only useful if you fully already use Box.net and understand its purpose as a digital locker. Then came Box LITE. Box LITE is an incredibly simple and straight-forward way to upload any file and post it anywhere that accepts embed codes. The cool thing is, if you have an account, the file will be added automatically to your Box, and if you don’t have one, an account will be created for you. Here’s an example of what Box LITE generates (click the button to view the file):

share your files at box.net
As with most things here, Box LITE is still a work in progress, so any feedback you have would be much appreciated.
To start posting, check out: http://www.box.net/lite - and be sure to tell your friends!

A feature that we’ve kept fairly hidden for the past few months is blog posting capabilities. We’ve now opened this feature up to all members. First, you will need to add your blogger, typepad, livejournal, or wordpress blog details in the settings page of your account. Then, when in the browse section of your account, right click on any file and select the “TO BLOG” option. Audio files will be embedded within a flash player, photos will display a thumbnail (clicking on large thumbnail checkbox produces the best results), and all other files will simply be a standard link to download. If you experience any issues or errors, please let us know. It’s quite possible we have some more work to do on this feature.

Traffic to one of our webservers was routed to a maintenance page early Wednesday morning. Sorry for the confusion to anyone who saw this message. Everything is resolved now and everyone should be able to access the site just fine. Thanks, Aaron
