Box’s mission has always been to make it easy to store your files safely and access them from anywhere. Today, we’re announcing an additional goal: strengthening your network through seamless sharing of information. We want to allow you to keep friends, family and colleagues up to date with your latest content, and we want to allow them to return the favor. We started on this path almost six months ago, and we’re finally prepared to preview what we’ve been working on. This goal has led to some of the recent public releases such as our Box widget, Box Enabled API, and Zoho integration.

For the next week or so, some of our new functionality will be in ‘Preview Mode.‘ This will be the first public showcase of the path we’re taking to connect people in a more compelling way. To start, we’ll be releasing:

- Public Boxes, a place you can use to share with friends or the world
- New sharing process, to easily share your content
- “Updates” tab, a place where you have immediate access to the files recently shared with you

Once we’ve worked out the initial kinks with these new features, the site will quickly come together with our new style, design, and purpose. The good news is that ALL of the functionality you’ve relied on to date is still available; the better news is that most of this functionality has been enhanced in some way; and the best news is that we’ve given new meaning to many of the parts of our service. Hopefully our new stuff will promote the exchange of important memories, information and ideas through all kinds of media. As always, any feedback you’re able to provide is greatly appreciated.
