Robert Scoble sits down with Box.net CEO Aaron Levie

You’ve been Scobleized. That’s right, Robert Scoble dropped by earlier this week to talk with CEO/Co-founder Aaron Levie. Scoble had some great questions for Aaron, covering a wide variety of topics. Of course, this included our recent “Sharing Should Be Simple” campaign and the Box.net vs. SharePoint Challenge. Scoble’s takeaway? “Box.net says they have better than SharePoint 2010 today”.

Check out all the action here:

Dude, you can’t compare Box to Sharepoint - they are totally different products aimed at different markets. It is like comparing cars from Ferrari (equivalent to Microsoft Sharepoint) with those from Nissan (equivalent to Box.net).

Sharepoint offers far more features, but it is typically this type of false marketing that convinces people to part with their hard earned money to sign up to services that just don’t deliver.

I bet you won’t even approve this comment…

Yes, we approved your comment, Realistic :) We have a healthy respect for SharePoint and recognize that it offers a broad platform for doing lots of things. But we talk to a lot of customers that use SharePoint and many of them use it mostly forvsharing documents and collaborating around their files. That’s what we’re addressing in our Box.net vs. SharePoint comparisons - we feel Box is a great solution for companies that primarily want a solution for sharing files easily and having an online workspace to collaborate with internal and external partners. You’re absolutely right in saying that SharePoint offers functionality that Box does not, but when it comes to satisfying core needs around sharing files and a quick implementation that lets SMBs get up and running in minutes, we think we have a quality product for that - and have lots of customers that would vouch for that. Thanks for reading and we sincerely appreciate your comments.
