We’re working our butts off…

Sorry again to everyone who is noticing problems! We thought we had the problem solved temporarily, but in fact our slowness still exists. We are now working 18 hour shifts to get this running properly. I believe we can look forward to everything being smooth very soon. We know how important the access of your data is, and we are doing everything we can to make sure the site performs quickly and reliably. Once we make it through this, everything should be great thereafter. Thanks for your patience and support.

I love Box.net and all the new developments. Sorry to hear you are having problems. I can of course have patience because I know when you have fixed everything, it will perform quickly, and reliably. Thank you for all the customer support you have provided. I wish all the companies that I deal with would be as supportive with their customers as you all at Box.net have been with me.

Must be great to have users that are this understanding (: Good example of that a company that has an honest relationship with its users/clients may not be the worst idea ever. Looking forward to the sync feature in the future too.

Good luck with the long shifts, my guess is it will pay off.

It is easy to be patient with a crew like you guys/gals?

I am just glad that you all are communicating with us, letting us know what’s going on. You a very quick to respond to issues at hand and I do believe you are working hard at resolving this issue. Keep up the great work, and great service.

I agree. The FACT that you communicate with your customers about stuff like this is a HUGE thing to me. I really like this blog area and I’m not even technically nerdy enough to grasp most of it. Anyway, I really like your company and while there of course many suggestions that would make it even better (in fact, i wish you had a suggestion box), you guys really run a great service that I’ve been very happy with. In short, you guys actually give a shit. And it shows. I hope it pays off for you.

Hey guys you are doing a great job keep up the excellent work -
    BTW -
Noticed that you are putting in a few new “Loading” boxes etc. within the UI and wanted to point you all to a nice site.
Not that the Box.net team hasn’t done a FANTASTIC job with the design of the site but for those boxes/windows where something says “Loading” etc. have you seen all the nice gifs over at:

    Just thought I’d share.

    Dear Box.net group

Thanks for working hard like you do. I am looking forward to being able to access my files and revise right on the website and not have to go back and forth. It is especially cumbersome for me at work as they do not allow me to use Java and I have to upload files one at a time.

    Thanks,
    Jeff

  16. Chris Says:

Thanks for the update Aaron. I’ve only been a Box.net user for a month or so. Regarding speed issues, at the site I used to use to store & share data I had to use FTP to upload. Your site/techinque is easily 3-4 times faster. Consistently! Thanks.

What is the status of the synchronizer plugin? I realize there are other pressing issues, just didn’t know exactly where to send this along.

Also has it been talked to death already about how cool it would be to be able to mount your box.net account as a drive (think iDisk on the mac, but for Windows and other platforms)? I imagined it was, just thought I’d ask.

As far as the bugs and outtages, frankly I don’t even understand how to keep a site this complex running, so it’s all over my head ;)

  24. Jason Says:

I love what you guys are doing here, but I can’t seem to get in touch with anyone to answer my question about FTP uploads. But I wouldn’t be surprised if my email’s spam filters are killing responses anyway!. So I figured I’d give it a shot here….someone will know the answer.

I’ve got a bunch of data to upload, and it would take forever 20 files at a time. The Box.net desktop app won’t do it, either. …gives an http component error.

So I was wondering if there is an FTP upload option…just to get the initial uploads done. Then, I’d be able to use the desktop sync and web interfaces to update my files.

Thanks, and keep up the good progress.

  25. It’s getting quite silent here… anybody home? Can we get an ETA for the sync program?
    Thanks.
