Box.net Blog

It’s official

What do over 500,000 people across the globe have in common? They all have a Box.net account. If you have a second to spare, Marshall’s write up at Techcrunch wraps up everything quite succinctly.

Even cooler are the millions of unique people that downloaded files from their friends through Box.net, blogs, or any of our partner and API applications. I think we’ve proven, at least to ourselves, that people need a flexible space on the web for their personal and commercial media. This makes us thrilled and motivated; but, even though we’ve gotten far, we have much farther to go. Here’s the short-term roadmap, folks:

  • Email signature to receive files from friends and co-workers
  • A neat flash widget
  • Desktop & Email uploading/sharing
  • Box-enabled network of applications and content providers. More on this later.

If you happen to be a part of the media, you can check out our press release here: http://www.box.net/public/r3v0nxbdb6

i like box.net, a very simple and easy to use online storage application, but i wish you guys can add in slightly more advanced functionalities like viewing pictures or playing music within box.net itself instead of being only able to download

for now if i were to view the photos or listen to the music i uploaded in the web browser i have to make the folder public and go to the public page through a rather awkward way from my account, then only i can view a slideshow or thumbnails of pictures i uploaded or listen to my songs

and there’s no way to embed songs or photos into other sites like blogs etc other than re-uploading them through box.net/lite, this is weird…even then there’s no way to trace back the codes after closing the window…you should add in codes for each individual file for each embedment, i’m sure it’s not hard to include that within the main box.net page, and add in a playlist function for the audio player too

hope you guys can make these your priority
